Assistant Coach, Arcadia University
Kate Higgins is entering her second season as an assistant women’s lacrosse coach at Arcadia University in 2016 after completing her four-year collegiate career at perennial national championship contender Gettysburg College. Higgins made the transition from midfield to defense as a senior, starting in all but one of her 19 games played and helping lead a defense that allowed 6.93 goals per game. She finished as the team leader with 38 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers, while also grabbing 15 draw controls. Higgins helped lead the Bullets to a berth in the 2015 Centennial Conference title game and a berth in the NCAA Division III regional final. Gettysburg won three consecutive Centennial championships from 2012-14, and advanced as far as the national quarterfinals in 2014. Higgins earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Gettysburg in 2015, and was a two-time IWLCA Academic Honor Roll honoree.
