2020s finish top 4 at Next Generation

Philly Blast 2020 played in the top bracket (Determination) at the Next Generation tournament held at USTC in Downingtown on Sunday, November 8th. There were 22 different 2020 teams competing and Philly Blast 2020 finished 3rd overall.

In the first game of the day, Blast played Liberty 2020 Black. The game started slow and Blast was down at the half 4-0, but came back in the second half through solid defense and patient offense to close to gap to 4-3. In the second game of the day, Blast faced Ultimate NJ and won 8-7! Shout out to defender Sophia Garino, who had a goal in the first half! Blast dominated in the last game of pool play, against Top Side Snipers. Despite the one loss in pool play to Liberty, Blast was still seeded #1 because of their tremendous defensive efforts and low number of goals scored against.

The top 4 teams moved on to semifinals, where Blast faced Xtreme 2020 Red. The game was back and forth the entire time! In the last minute of the game, Xtreme put in a goal to pull them ahead 8-7. Unfortunately time ran out after an 8 meter shot and Blast didn’t score. The game was well fought every minute by both teams and very exciting! Great tournament girls!

Afterwards, Xtreme 2020 Red moved on to the finals with ADK (ADK beat Team United 13-5 in semi’s), and Xtreme Red won handily 10-2.
