MaryCate Markey (2017 GK) commits to ODU
Congratulations to Philly Blast 2017 Blue and Merion Mercy Academy goalie, MaryCate Markey, on her verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Old Dominion University!
“I would not have been able to come this far without the help of all my coaches and amazing teammates! I’d like to give a big thanks to everyone who has somehow shaped me in lacrosse and helped me with this process.”
MaryCate was also considering American University, Saint Joseph’s University, University of Tampa, and Catholic University during her recruiting process, but ODU stood above the rest.
“[ODU] seems to be the best fit for me, both academically and athletically. I loved the campus, the lacrosse facilities, and the team culture. All the girls were so nice and seemed to all get along really well. Academically, ODU offers up to 130 majors which gives me lots of options to study in college.”
In addition to playing lacrosse, MaryCate is also a member of the varsity cross country team at Merion Mercy Academy.
