Blast teams finish strong at President’s Cup

Blast 2017 Blue, 2018 Blue and 2018 Red finished the fall season at the country’s largest fall recruiting tournament, the IWLCA President’s Cup in Orlando, Florida.

President’s Cup was held over three days, November 20th-22nd at two sites in Florida: the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex (Kissimmee) and Lake Myrtle Sports Park (Auburndale). This year’s event drew a record number of college coaches (743)! 259 teams, over 4,600 athletes, came from all over the country to showcase. On Sunday, Blast won every game to finish the tournament strong!

2017 Blue played against against StickBenders Green, Syracuse Elite, Texas Rangers, and AYLA Elite. On Saturday alone, more than 100 different college programs were in attendance at 2017 Blue’s games! On Sunday, the 2017s faced AYLA Elite, who played a very organized zone defense. Through a patient and selfless offense, Blast was able to chip away, breakdown the D and come away with a solid 8-5 win!

2018 Blue competed in the toughest 2018 bracket, which included Yellow Jackets 2018 Blue, Cardinal 2018, TLC 2018 Red, T3 North 2018 Black and XTeam 2018. YJ (NY) & TLC (MD) proved to be the toughest opponents, but the level of play was outstanding all weekend! In their game vs XTEAM on Sunday, 2018 Blue pushed the tempo for all 50 minutes and came away with a big team win!

2018 Red also competed in an extremely strong bracket, against Everest (Canada), LaxNW Rippers, MD United West, Metro Green, and Richmond Strikers. 2018 Red played incredibly well against each opponent, leading or within 1 goal at half every game! In the last game of the tournament for Blast, 2018 Red faced Richmond Strikers and held the lead for every minute of the game! Shout out to Caroline C who came up with a HUGE caused turnover at the end of the game to regain possession, control momentum and ultimately win 10-6!
